Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s NPOWER scheme ave passed a vote of no confidence on the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian affairs Hajia Umar Farouq.
The beneficiaries who revealed that since the scheme was taken out of the vice President’s office and placed under the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, payments have not been regular.
In a statement released by representatives of the NPOWER offices in the 36 states and the FCT, the beneficiaries called for the immediate removal of the Minister and appointment of a more competent Nigerian.
The statement read…
The 500,000 beneficiaries nationwide will always have to protest before our ₦30,000 stipends is paid, sometimes by the 3rd week of the following month since she took over NPOWER from the office of the Vice President.
As we speak she has not paid April stipends which she assured us will be paid early this week. This deception is not surprising as she lied about payment to the house of Reps commitee set up to investigate N-Power activities.
We the leaders of the 500,000 beneficiaries Nationwide want the following to be done as soon as possible as we constitute a good number of electorates that worked for this 2nd term administration of president Buhari to power.
1. Immediate Payment of April stipends and the commencement of May payment process which must not exceed this may, on or before 31st.
2. Immediate removal of the minister of Humanitarian Affairs Sarita Umar Far-out and the position given to a more competent proactive and youth friendly Nigerian.
Nothing short of the above demands is accepted by the above named body and by extension the 500,000 beneficiaries Nationwide.”
As at press time, NPOWER beneficiaries nationwide were yet to receive their stipends for the month of April.
