Troops of operation secure haven (OPSH) in Plateau have arrested 5 suspected gunrunners within the Bayamemi axis of Jos north LGA of the state.
Zagazola Makama, a publication centered on the Lake Chad area, mentioned the arrest was made throughout an in a single day operation “performed based mostly on dependable intelligence”.
The publication mentioned the troops carried out the operation on September 17.
Sources instructed Makama that the suspects, together with the seized weapons and ammunition, are at the moment in army custody for investigation.
“Objects recovered from the suspects included; AK-47 Rifles, 1 FN Rifle, 14 AK-47 Magazines, 1 FN Journal, 5,316 Rounds of seven.62mm (Particular) Ammunition 98 Rounds of seven.62mm (NATO) Ammunition and 43 Rounds of 9.5mm Ammunition amongst different objects,” the publication mentioned.
In June, the troops arrested a “needed gunrunner” within the state.
The suspect was arrested for taking part within the December 2023 Christmas Eve assaults on elements of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau state.
