The United Nations (UN) says it’s offering meals, shelter and well being companies for victims of the latest flood catastrophe in Maiduguri, Borno state.
On Tuesday, a number of residents of Maiduguri had been displaced following extreme flooding attributable to the collapse of the Alau Dam which had been at full capability for the previous weeks.
The incident, which left lethal animals like crocodiles and snakes washed away by flood, with over 200 inmates at massive, has raised concern of security within the state.
President Bola Tinubu had ordered the instant evacuation of victims, whereas pleading the federal authorities’s help for the state.
In a post on X on Friday, António Guterres, UN secretary-general, mentioned the organisation will proceed to offer help for these affected by flooding within the nation.

On Thursday the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) mentioned over 30 individuals have died and over 400,000 have been displaced as a result of flood within the state.
