The Mercy Corps, Worldwide Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Centre for Democracy and Growth (CDD) are presently making efforts to eradicate battle and promote neighborhood reconciliation in Katsina State.

The Senior Programme Supervisor of Mercy Corps, Philip Ikiti, who acknowledged this through the celebration of the Worldwide Girls’s Day (IWD) in Katsina on Friday, mentioned the challenge is funded by the European Union (UN).
With the theme: ‘Spend money on girls: Speed up Progress,’ the IWD celebration was organised within the state by the Mercy Corps in collaboration with the state authorities and Save the Youngsters.
Ikiti mentioned the North-west area of the nation has been experiencing battle since 2014, growing in magnitude affecting roughly over a million individuals.
He mentioned: “Presently seen as acts of armed banditry, communal clashes and insurgency, since 2014, the variety of kidnapping has Elevated from 29 to 39 per cent in 2022.”
In response to the challenges, the three organisations have partnered to implement the excellent pilot programme to help the Nigerian authorities’s efforts in Katsina State.

In her remarks, the state’s First Woman, Hajia Zulaihat Dikko Radda, referred to as on the federal government and non-governmental organisations to develop sensible insurance policies to deal with gender-based Violence (GBV) within the nation.
She defined that the federal government, organisations and important stakeholders ought to fight gender-based violence and put money into girl-child training for the betterment of the nation.
